When you visit this website, the hosting server processes the connection data needed to deliver it, including your IP address, the time of the request and the requested files. These data enable the website to function and help secure its operation. This website contains no analytics or advertising trackers. JavaScript and the available photographs are hosted on this domain; fonts use the system fonts on your device.
Cookies and saved preferences
The application sets no analytics or advertising cookies. Your choices about external content are saved only in this browser’s local storage, under severinsviertel-privacy-v1. This entry contains your permissions for maps and external images and the time of your decision. It is used for 180 days, after which we ask again. A refusal is saved in the same way. Your choices are not transmitted to the application server.
You can change your choices and withdraw permission at any time using . Withdrawing permission prevents further requests for external content; it cannot undo data that have already been transmitted. You can also delete the saved entry using your browser’s website-data settings.
External maps
We load map tiles from tile.openstreetmap.org only after you give permission. The provider is the OpenStreetMap Foundation (OSMF), St John’s Innovation Centre, Cowley Road, Cambridge, CB4 0WS, United Kingdom. OpenStreetMap receives your IP address and the requested map area, among other connection data. Moving or zooming the map may request further tiles. Without permission, you can still use the list of locations.
External original images
Four historical image files are available in the inherited collection only as external references. With your permission, they are requested directly from the original sources: Severinsbürgerpreis (severinsbuergerpreis.de), Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger (mobil.ksta.de), Kartäuserkirche (kartaeuserkirche-koeln.de) and Reissdorf (reissdorf.de). Their servers receive your IP address and the connection data needed to process the request. These sources may be unavailable. Original image references, captions and rights notices remain on the website even without permission. Locally hosted photos do not require this permission.
Location feature
The app requests your phone’s location only when you select “Use my location” and grant the separate permission requested by your browser. Distances to plaques are calculated in your browser. The application does not store your location or send it to its server. If you enable external maps, the requested map area may indicate the area around your location. The Chlodwigplatz example does not use your phone’s location.
Your privacy rights
Contact the data controller above with questions about data processing or to exercise your rights. Subject to the applicable legal conditions, these include access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection, as well as withdrawing consent for future processing. You may also complain to a data protection authority, such as the North Rhine-Westphalia Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.
Appearance and language
If you choose Light, Dark or System, this explicitly requested preference is saved in this browser’s local storage under severinsviertel-theme. It remains until you change it or clear your website data and is not sent to our server. German and English are selected through the page address; no additional cookie is needed.
